Ugandan students at NDSU and a number of NDSU students participating in the 2009 summer course “International Animal Production, Disease Surveillance and Public Health,” at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, will present “Study Abroad in Uganda Night.” The fundraising event is scheduled for Monday, March 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Memorial Union Century Theater.
The program will start at 5:30 p.m. with a light reception including Ugandan snacks followed by a slide show, video, dances, presentations, student alumni testimonies and a fashion show on Uganda. A silent auction of Ugandan articles also will be conducted.
The summer course is offered June 6 to July 4. NDSU’s Department of Veterinary and Microbiological Sciences and Makerere University’s Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine have created the course to facilitate diversity in student training to produce a globally engaged science work force. Last summer, the course drew interest from students at other institutions.
There still is room for more students to enroll in the 2009 summer course. The deadline is April 30. For more information, go to vetmicro.ndsu.nodak.edu/Summer_Program_Uganda.htm.
