Tom Riley, dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, will present “A Tlingit Adoption,” on Thursday, April 23, from noon to 1 p.m. in Memorial Union Century Theater.
Riley will talk about his recent adoption by the Tlingit Indians of Angoon, Alaska. An incident that took place 126 years ago led him to a potlatch, a memorial funerary feast, of the Tlingit. Come listen to the story of his family and this American Indian village starting back in 1882.
