NDSU’s 2016 United Way “Live United” campaign began Oct. 18 and will continue through Nov. 8, according to La Donna De Geldere, campus campaign coordinator and associate executive assistant to the president.
“We are so grateful to be a part of supporting our community through partnering with United Way and the work they are doing,” De Geldere said. “By acting together, we can make positive change in our community that we could never achieve acting alone.”
NDSU personnel will receive emails from United Way of Cass-Clay that will include a personal link for online pledges.
“This year, our online pledging will only be open for these three weeks, so be sure to make your pledge during this time,” De Geldere said. “We will continue to have special events and activities to support United Way through the end of the year, so keep an eye out for those happening around campus.”
The goal for the total United Way of Cass-Clay 2016 community campaign is $5.7 million. The organization has announced several aims for the coming year, including:
• Reduce hunger and homelessness with such initiatives as the Housing First Program.
• Prepare children to succeed through early intervention screenings, quality out-of-school programs, mentorships and school-readiness programs.
• Help people be independent with quality behavioral health services, assistance to senior citizens and access to counseling.
• Lift people out of poverty by providing child-care scholarships, support to low-income parents, workforce development and parent education programs.
As a student-focused, land grant, research institution, we serve our citizens.
