NDSU is scheduled to host a military ceremony in honor of Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the flag plaza near the south entrance of the Memorial Union.
The event is being organized by the Veterans Alliance Organization, known as VALOR.
Timothy Alvarez, vice president for student affairs, will give opening and closing comments, as well as introduce a guest speaker. “We owe a great deal of gratitude to our veterans, who help in our pursuit of peace. But that pursuit is not free, and veterans are willing to pay that price for us,” Alvarez said. “Veterans Day affords us the opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifices they make that permit this country to now occupy its present position of responsibility, and the freedoms we often take for granted. “I am grateful for VALOR, which works to improve the campus climate for military and veteran students.”
Approximately 20 NDSU cadets from the Army and Air Force ROTC will be in formation during the ceremony, and Specialist Heidi Johnson, a student from the 188th Army Band, is scheduled to play taps.
Faculty, staff, students and the public are encouraged to attend.
As a student-focused, land-grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
