John Deere Electronic Solutions was recognized during NDSU’s fourth annual Campus Community Partnership flag raising held Nov. 10. The company’s flag was raised during a ceremony at the NDSU Flag Plaza, located in the southwest corner of campus at 12th Avenue North and 18th Street.
The company has a long-standing partnership with the university and the NDSU Research and Technology Park, with more than 650 employees at its John Deere Electronic Solutions locations in Fargo. About one-quarter of those workers are NDSU graduates. Each year, approximately 10 NDSU graduates are offered positions with the company. NDSU and John Deere also recently signed a Master Research Agreement that enables research on innovative technologies.
“John Deere Electronic Solutions is one of the founding organizations of the Research and Technology Park at NDSU, and absolutely one of the most successful,” said President Dean L. Bresciani, who established the Campus Community Partner program in 2012 to recognize private sector collaborations with the university that benefit the community.
“This is an exemplar of a model that can be extended nationally, if not internationally, of a major research university and a major corporate entity coming together to create successes that would not have been possible in the past,” Bresciani said.
“It is a great honor to be recognized by NDSU as a corporate partner. We greatly appreciate that honor,” said Tom Budan, John Deere Electronic Solutions general manager, noting the partnership is built to last and he expects it to grow in the future.
“NDSU has been a wonderful source of talent. We have been able to recruit the very best and brightest minds that North Dakota has to offer through this university,” Budan said. “It has been a source of mutual and collaborative research in many facets of our organization. Last, and certainly not least, it is an incredible source of civic pride for our employees to be associated with this great institution.”
