Char Goodyear, assistant to the vice president for university relations, was named the United Way of Cass-Clay 2008 Outstanding Employee Campaign Coordinator of the Year for institutions or businesses with more than 1,500 employees. Goodyear, who coordinates NDSU’s United Way campaign, was recognized during the organization’s annual meeting and recognition luncheon on April 28.
The recently completed campus campaign reached a new level, surpassing $125,000 in gifts and pledges from faculty and staff.
“Char has demonstrated an exceptional ability to organize, energize and educate faculty, students and staff for this important community activity,” NDSU President Joseph A. Chapman wrote in a letter of nomination. “Char’s commitment to United Way is clearly evident. Her attention to detail and an eager willingness to answer countless questions are testimony to her caring nature and strong professionalism.”
“I am truly honored,” Goodyear said. “I especially want to thank the members of the NDSU United Way Campaign Committee for all their hard work to make our campaign a success, and to President Chapman for nominating me. This recognition came as a complete surprise, and I’m delighted to receive the award.”
Judy Green, United Way of Cass-Clay president, said, “Char has been a gift and a blessing to this community. She clearly is a testament to someone who inspires hope and creates opportunities for a better tomorrow.”
The overall campaign for the United Way of Cass-Clay surpassed its $4.7 million goal. For more information about United Way, visit www.uwcc.net.
