NDSU alumnus Marc Scott, assistant professor of logistics in the Department of Supply Chain Management at the University of Arkansas' Sam M. Walton College of Business, is scheduled to give a guest lecture Monday, April 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. in 422 Quentin Burdick Building.
The lecture will focus on the role of scholarship and research in supply chain management. Scott will take a three-pronged approach – the dynamic or rigor of scholarship vs. its relevance, a review of several supply chain case studies and their aligned research projects and the importance of industry-facing engagement in supply chain research.
Scott earned his doctorate in transportation and logistics at NDSU in 2011. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business economics and master’s degree in transportation from South Carolina State University.
He was a replenishment manager for Walmart Stores Inc. for four years before joining the University of Arkansas faculty. His research interests include strategic procurement, outsourcing, supply management, and supply chain service design with a particular focus on retail, third-party logistics and public sector supply chains.
Scott has industry experience in the retail, applied research, transportation, development banking, investment banking and energy industries.
