Three NDSU communicators received awards in the 2017 North Dakota Professional Communicators competition.
Ellen Crawford, information specialist in Agriculture Communication, received:
· First place - news story in a magazine, newsletter or other non-newspaper print publication for an article on NDSU cow pregnancy research
· First place - specialty articles (agriculture, agribusiness, aquaculture) for articles on the NDSU Extension Service’s programming to assist North Dakota’s livestock industry and Extension’s pesticide program.
· First place - reports for her role in Annual Highlights, the annual report for the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and NDSU Extension Service
Becky Koch, director of Agriculture Communication, received:
· First place - magapapers/tabloids for the fruits and vegetables issue of AgMag, a publication to help North Dakota’s third-, fourth- and fifth-graders learn more about agriculture
· First place - writing for the web for NDSU Extension’s Branding and Communications website
Carol Renner, communications specialist in the College of Health Professions, received:
· First place - social media campaign (nonprofit, government or educational) for the NDSU School of Pharmacy’s celebration of National Pharmacists Week
· Second place - an annual report on research
· Honorable mention - single news or feature release for an article about nursing research on e-cigarette nicotine labels
They received the awards during organization’s spring conference in Fargo.
The first-place awards have advanced to the National Federation of Press Women communications contest. Winners will be announced during its annual conference in Birmingham, Alabama, Sept. 7-9.
