The 2017 NDSU Chamber Music Festival, with several free concerts, is scheduled for June 1-6.
The public is invited to a series of free concerts featuring NDSU student pianists and world-class string players. Special guest artists are the Prometheus Trio, artists-in-residence at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music; and David Harding, professor of viola and chamber music at Carnegie Mellon School of Music in Pittsburgh. Other guest musicians include members of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and faculty from the NDSU Challey School of Music, Concordia College and the University of South Dakota.
Concerts in Beckwith Recital Hall include:
• Thursday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. with works by Gade, Ives and Martinu
• Monday, June 5, at 7:30 p.m. with works by Beethoven and Turina
• Tuesday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m. with works by Brahms and Shostakovich
Plains Art Museum Performance
• Tuesday, June 6, at noon with works by Copland, Haydn and Bartók
In addition, a masterclass with Stefanie Jacob of the Prometheus Trio is set for Monday, June 5, at noon in Beckwith Recital Hall.
