NDSU senior Matti Mortimore and sophomore Ryan Enerson have been named to the Academic All-District 6 team in Division I men’s track and field, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced May 25.
Mortimore, of Ipswich, England, graduated this month with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average, majoring in philosophy and humanities. Enerson, who is from Grand Forks, North Dakota, has a 3.95 cumulative GPA with a major in biological sciences.
A two-time NCAA All-American in the javelin, Mortimore is also ranked No. 1 among all British men this year in the event. He won three consecutive Summit League javelin titles, as well as being the 2016 British national champion. Mortimore was a recipient of NDSU’s Bison Most Valuable Scholar-Athlete Award and a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic and Summit League Academic All-League honoree.
Enerson won his second straight Summit League championship in the heptathlon this season, scoring 5,103 points to rank fifth in school history.
As All-District honorees, Mortimore and Enerson advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Greg Liebl and Scott Nei are the most recent Academic All-Americans for Bison men’s track and field, with both being recognized in 2008.
