NDSU Visual Arts will offer a study abroad educational trip to South Africa this summer.
The course, South Africa: Visual Arts in the Post-Apartheid Era, is set for Aug. 4-19. It will focus on photography and ceramics, and include stops in Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
Highlights include:
• Visiting galleries and museums in Johannesburg
• Interacting with South African artists during residencies in Pietermaritzburg and Durban
• Experiencing an African safari in Hlulhluwe Game Reserve
• Touring ancient rock art sites in the Drakensberg mountains
Participants will register for the three-credit course ART 379 for fall semester. The course will count towards all College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and bachelor’s degree fine arts requirements.
Program cost is $4,275, which includes airfare, housing, local ground transportation, entrance fees, most meals, leader costs, studio fees, and health insurance. Eligible students can use financial aid.
