Lab and chemical safety courses have been planned for Wednesday Sept. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Meadow Lark room and Thursday, Sept. 3, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Prairie room.
The course is required for new laboratory workers and serves as a refresher course for people currently working in laboratories.
Topics include knowledge of chemicals, personal protection, fire safety, electrical safety, hazard communication standards, physical and chemical hazards, chemical spills and waste handling.
There is no fee for the lab and chemical safety course. The instructor for the course is Ted Jirik. Class size is limited to 20 people per session. In the event no one registers, the class will be canceled. Registration is required and students must attend the entire session.
