The NDSU Staff Senate is set to sponsor the “Barnes and Noble Bookfair” Friday, March 2, at the Barnes and Noble store, 1201 42nd St. S. in Fargo. The event supports scholarships for NDSU staff and their dependents.
The campus community and the public are invited.
Event highlights are geared to youth and children, and include story time with NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani at 10:30 a.m. and story time with Bison mascot Thundar at 1:30 p.m.
“Barnes and Noble is a strong advocate for literacy, arts and education. This is the first time we’ve done a bookfair with the company,” said Kay Hopkins, Staff Senator and business manager for the NDSU College of Business. “Many of the awarded Staff Senate scholarships go to aid NDSU staff and staff dependents in purchasing textbooks and other educational supplies, so the scholarship committee felt like these causes aligned well.”
The Staff Senate’s scholarship fund will receive a percentage of books and merchandise sales (textbooks and gift cards are not included) during the one-day event and online sales from March 2-7. To participate in the online effort, enter the bookfair code – 12311247 – during checkout.
In addition to Hopkins, other members of the scholarship committee include Daniel Erichsen, Jason Medders, Kaelen Napolean, Megan Bouret and Jim Osland.
