NDSU placed nine student-athletes on the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling team announced Wednesday, Feb. 28, by the conference office. There were 88 selections overall.
A total of 63 wrestlers make up the first team, including Bison repeat selections 149-pound redshirt senior Kyle Gliva from Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; 157-pound redshirt senior Clay Ream from Wentzville, Missouri; and 197-pound redshirt sophomore Cordell Eaton from Long Grove, Iowa. Ream is a three-time selection, while Eaton and Gliva both make their second appearance.
Rounding out NDSU’s first team picks are 125-pound redshirt freshman Paul Bianchi from Two Rivers, Wisconsin; 174-pound redshirt junior Dylan Urbach from Lisbon, North Dakota; and 285-pound redshirt sophomore Dan Stibral from Tabor, South Dakota.
Named to the second team were 174/184-pound redshirt freshman Nick Knutson from New Prague, Minnesota; 184-pound redshirt junior Tyler McNutt from St. Joseph, Minnesota; and 184-pound redshirt freshman Cole Witzig from Troy, Illinois. McNutt is a three-time selection.
First team members have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
