NDSU alumnus Zach Hermann has been named the Young Engineer of the Year by the F-M Engineers Club. The club is chapter four of the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers.
Hermann, BS ’08, civil engineering, is a project manager for Houston Engineering Inc., Fargo, who specializes in water management solutions. His professional activities have included the F-M Engineers Club, Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber Leadership Program, Association of State Dam Safety Officials, Chamber Young Professionals Network and the Fargo chapter of Delta Waterfowl. He joined Houston Engineering Inc. in 2007.
Houston Engineering also received the club’s Outstanding Design Award for its Second Street/downtown Fargo flood protection project.
Another nominee for the Outstanding Design Award was the City of Mapleton’s First Street reconstruction project by Moore Engineering Inc. The principal engineer of that project was NDSU alumnus Brandon Oye, BS ’06, civil engineering. Moore Engineering Inc. has offices in Bismarck, Minot and West Fargo, North Dakota, and Fergus Falls and St. Cloud, Minnesota.
