Nona Wood, associate director of student rights and responsibilities in the Department of Student Affairs, is set to retire March 31 after 29 years of service.

Wood began working at NDSU as a student in 1983, and she accepted a fulltime professional position working with Student Rights and Responsibilities in 1989. During her time at NDSU, she served under five NDSU Presidents and four vice presidents for student affairs.

Her many contributions included representing North Dakota higher education institutions as a member of the North Dakota “STOP” Violence Against Women Training Committee, served as the 8th circuit representative and regional director-at-large for circuits 7 and 8 and was president-elect, president, and past president of the Association for Student Judicial Affairs, now known as Association for Student Conduct Administration. She helped to establish association’s Journal of Student Conduct Administration and its first professional editorial board. In addition, she gave many presentations at national conferences on topics related to student conduct and served as a faculty member in several summer institutes.

She co-wrote “Stalking the Stalker: A Profile of Offenders” with Robert A. Wood for the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin in December 2002. It was vetted by FBI profilers prior to publication.

Wood received the Donald D. Gehring Award from Association of Student Judicial Affairs in 2002 for exceptional individual contributions to the area of student conduct administration.
