NDSU’s three-time NCAA Elite 90 Award-winning 157-pounder Clay Ream was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 Division I Men’s At-Large Team announced May 17. The team was selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America
Ream, a native of Wentzville, Missouri, had a 3.977 grade point average in biochemistry and molecular biology. He is a three-time Academic All-District selection. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
Ream completed in his fourth NCAA tournament appearance with a 1-2 record. He was 4-8 overall in NCAA competition. Ream compiled a 24-6 record this season including his second straight runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championships. Ream is a two-time Big 12 Conference Wrestler Scholar Athlete of the Year and three-time Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling first team selection.
The at-large teams represent the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball and wrestling
District 6 is comprised of student-athletes from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by the sports information director.
