NDSU 157-pounder Clay Ream was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Men’s At-Large first team for the second straight year. The team was announced June 14, and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
A native of Wentzville, Missouri., Ream maintained a 3.977 GPA in biochemistry and molecular biology and graduated this May. He was a three-time NCAA Elite 90 Award winner at the national tournament during his career.
He was a two-time Big 12 Conference Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the Year and three-time Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling first team selection. He was named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic team four straight years.
He finished with 95 career wins to rank 20th on the school’s all-time charts.
At-large teams represent the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball and wrestling.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by the institution’s sports information director.
