Ashley Honl, a senior majoring in accounting, was awarded a $10,000 from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
The board awards one student at 332 colleges and universities a $10,000 scholarship. Participating educational institutions nominate a scholarship recipient from students enrolled in their accounting degree programs.
“Ashley is well-deserving of the merit-based PCAOB scholarship,” said Thomas Dowdell, chair of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. “Besides doing a great job in her classes at NDSU, Ashley pursues a wide variety of work, service and leadership opportunities. She is taking full advantage of her university experience to prepare for her professional career.”
Honl is the NDSU Accounting Club president and completed two audit internships at Eide Bailly LLP and Titan Machinery, both in Fargo.
“I was so excited when I found out that I had received this scholarship,” said Honl, who is from Fargo. “It was truly an honor to be chosen by the accounting faculty as they have been a significant part of my success. This motivates me to continue to excel in my coursework and to strive to be a leader at NDSU.”
Honl is set to graduate in December and will pursue her master’s in accountancy at NDSU.
