Eight scholarships will be awarded to outstanding NDSU student-athletes during this year’s Harvest Bowl festivities on Oct. 23-24.
“We are very grateful to all of the wonderful people who are so generous in supporting the Harvest Bowl scholarships,” says Gene Taylor, NDSU athletic director. “Their generosity assists our student athletes in pursuing their academic and athletic dreams.”
Matt Gratzek from Argyle, Minn., is the recipient of the 2009 Harvest Bowl Scholarship. He is a defensive tackle on the NDSU football team. Christine Bruins from Watford City, N.D., also is the recipient of a Harvest Bowl Scholarship in memory of Robert Johansen. Bruins is a member of the NDSU track and field team.
Michael Arndt from LaMoure, N.D., is the recipient of the Bob and Darlene Yaggie Football Scholarship. He is an offensive tackle on the NDSU football team.
Nick Mertens, from East Grand Forks, Minn., is the recipient of the Bob Lauf Memorial Scholarship. He is a quarterback on the football team.
Kenny Moenkedick from Perham, Minn., is the Ron and Karen Offutt Scholarship recipient. He is a member of the NDSU wrestling team.
Quin Ryan from Moorhead, Minn., is the recipient of the Red River Commodities Scholarship. She is a member of the NDSU women’s soccer team.
Cody Gronvold from Rugby, N.D., is the recipient of the John Dean Scholarship. He is a member of the men’s track and field team.
Keith Buckman from Belfield, N.D., is the recipient of the Bob and Bruce Yaggie Father-Son Scholarship. He is an offensive guard on the football team.
“The Harvest Bowl Committee continues to make this a very special event, not only for all of the honorees, but also each of the student athletes who receive a scholarship,” says Lynn Dorn, NDSU women’s athletic director. “The student athletes are very proud to be named as a recipient and so are their families. This truly is the highlight of our fall season.”
Events begin Friday, Oct. 23, at the Fargo Ramada Plaza Suites with dinner, an awards ceremony and games. Saturday, Oct. 24, honorees will participate in educational sessions at NDSU and attend the Harvest Bowl football game.
