Mathematics faculty and students present at national meeting

Six members of the mathematics department participated in the 2009 Fall Southeastern America Mathematical Society Meeting at Florida Atlantic University, Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.

Mariangel Alfonseca, assistant professor, attended the special session about "Harmonic Analysis."

Jason Boynton, postdoctoral research fellow, gave a 20-minute invited lecture titled "The D+M Construction and a Generalization" in the special session about "Commutative Ring Theory, a Tribute to the Memory of James Brewer."

Jim Coykendall, professor, also gave a 20-minute invited lecture titled "Factorization Stability in Polynomial and Power Series Rings" in the special session about "Commutative Ring Theory, a Tribute to the Memory of James Brewer."

Bethany Kubik, graduate student, gave a 20-minute invited lecture titled "Quasidualizing Modules" in the special session about "Homological Aspects of Module Theory."

William (Travis) Trentham, graduate student, gave a 20-minute invited lecture titled "On the Integral Closure on an Antimatter Domain" in the special session about "Commutative Ring Theory, a Tribute to the Memory of James Brewer."

Sean Sather-Wagstaff, assistant professor, helped organized the special session about "Homological Aspects of Module Theory."
