Little Country Theatre presents 'The Misanthrope'
The NDSU Little Country Theatre continues their season with "The Misanthrope" by Molière, a classic comedy set in today’s hype-and-spin dominated culture.
Alceste is an impassioned advocate of complete honesty in all interactions, a trait that gets him into trouble in the hypocritical, deceitful society in which he moves. More amazingly, it does not prevent him from falling in love with a woman who fully embodies everything he claims he despises. The conflict of head versus heart is the center of this play, and the production will explore the parallels between Alceste’s age (17th century) and our own.
"The Misanthrope" runs Dec. 2-6 in Askanase Auditorium. Show times are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for seniors, NDSU faculty, staff and alumni; $8 for non-NDSU students; and $5 for NDSU students.
The season continues in February with the musical "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" and concludes with the student produced "The Quarantined" in April.
Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Box Office at 1-7969, ndsu.fine.arts@ndsu.edu, or Music Education room 115. More information is available at www.ndsu.edu/finearts.
