Alexa Hanson, a doctoral student in human development with a gerontology emphasis, is the recipient of the Dora E. Clover 2009 Scholarship from the American Dietetic Association. She was notified in August that she would receive this $1,000 competitive scholarship for the 2009-10 school year.
Hanson also was awarded the Human Development and Education teaching assistant award, the Board of Visitors award for Human Development and Education and the BBN and MH Graduate Scholarship for the same academic year. She is studying the relationship of vitamin D intake and serum levels to vitamin D sources, particularly in older adults. Her major adviser is Sherri Stastny, assistant professor of health, nutrition and exercise science.
