V-Day NDSU presents ‘The Vagina Monologues’

SHARE

To raise funds and awareness to end violence against women and girls, V-Day NDSU will present Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues.” Performances will be in Memorial Union Century Theater on March 25 at 8 p.m., March 26 at 7 p.m. and March 27 at 3 p.m. General admission tickets are $8 for faculty, staff and general public and $5 for students. Tickets will be available at the door, from cast members and in the Memorial Union from March 23-25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Inspired by “The Vagina Monologues,” V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls. Ensler started the movement in the late 1990s. She says that women's reactions to the play launched V-Day. After seeing the play, women would line up to tell Ensler their personal experiences, most often of sexual violence.

V-Day NDSU, the group that has organized this event, invites the NDSU community and public to experience “The Vagina Monologues” mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women's experiences. Profits will be donated to the Democratic Republic of Congo and a local group that provides services to women and children.

Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance and the Equity and Diversity Center are sponsoring the event.
