NDSU’s President’s Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs announced creation of the Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention Research Award for the 2010-11 academic year.
The purpose of this award is to encourage scholarship in effective collegiate prevention strategies for alcohol and other drugs. This award will fulfill an objective of the Strategic Plan to Address High Risk Alcohol and Other Drug Use, which is to increase the knowledge of the NDSU community regarding how alcohol misuse may negatively impact achievement of academic and career goals. Research related to any area of collegiate alcohol and other drug abuse prevention will be considered; however, priority will be given to proposals supporting the goals and objectives of the council's strategic plan.
A copy of the strategic plan is available at www.ndsu.edu/alcoholinfo/presidents_council_on_aod/pcaod_strategic_plan.
The award is available to NDSU faculty or staff members, as well as graduate and undergraduate students. The total award pool is $8,500, and from this, one to three awards will be given. Applications are available at www.ndsu.edu/alcoholinfo. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on June 15.
The President’s Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs is composed of faculty, staff and students. Appointed in 2007, the council is working to reduce high-risk alcohol and other drug use in the NDSU community.
