The North Dakota State University College of Business, Center for Global Initiatives, Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics and North Dakota Trade Office are sponsoring Global Business Week March 9-11 in Richard H. Barry Hall.

Global Business Week is for undergraduate and graduate business students who will be at the forefront of cross border transactions in the future. "This week is designed to expose students to many of the issues they will face in their future business careers," said Newell Wright, director of the Center for Global Initiatives. "They will learn ways in which their participation will help solve problems around the globe. For example, one event is designed to show how a business solution microcredit can help solve the global poverty problem." Local business leaders also will participate in the events as well as a global business fair in the Richard H. Barry Hall atrium.

Students also will have the opportunity to learn about study abroad programs with the NDSU College of Business. "Research shows that creating global attitudes should be the ultimate mission of business schools in the future," said Wright. "And one great way to accomplish this is through study abroad programs. Whether or not students ever work abroad, they will likely work for a company that has global customers or that sources supplies from around the world. They will likely be working in an increasingly multicultural and diverse workforce, even if they never leave the country."

The Global Business Week activities will generate interest about the global marketplace and to help prepare students for the 21st century workforce.
