Sherri Schmidt, associate executive director for the NDSU Alumni Association, has been elected to the board of trustees for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), an international professional association serving educational institutions and advancement professionals who work on their behalf in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas.
Schmidt's three-year term will begin following the CASE board meeting in New York City on July 17. The 30-member board sets policies, approves the annual budget and ensures sound management of the organization.
Schmidt has been involved with CASE since 1990 serving as chair of the CASE district VI board of directors, chair of the CASE district VI conference and member of the CASE commission on alumni relations. She has been a frequent CASE speaker, recipient of the prestigious CASE Crystal Apple Award for Teaching Excellence, and a faculty member at the CASE Summer Institute in Alumni Relations and Institute for Senior Alumni Relations Professionals.
"I am very honored to be elected to the board of trustees because of the organization's positive impact to our profession, valued community of colleagues and commitment to advance education," Schmidt said.
CASE was founded in 1974 and now includes nearly 3,400 colleges and universities, primary and secondary independent and international schools and nonprofit organizations in 59 countries. It serves more than 61,500 advancement professionals on the staffs of member institutions and has nearly 22,000 professional members.
