Igor Shemyakin, executive deputy director of the State Research Center for Applied Microbiology at Obolensk, Russia, is scheduled to present “What is Obolensk?” on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. in Sudro 26.
He will discuss the current and future use of what was the premiere biological weapons research and development institute in Russia.
Shemyakin’s field of expertise includes molecular microbiology and molecular epidemiology. He is a co-collaborator with Charlie Stoltenow, associate professor and director of NDSU’s veterinary technology program, in the selection of efficient peptide substrates for anthrax lethal factor.
