The 22nd Annual Woodlands and High Plains Powwow is scheduled for this Saturday, March 5, at Memorial Auditorium at Concordia College in Moorhead.
Registration will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., doors will be open from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and grand entries will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Attendees will see traditional dancing, singing, drumming, regalia and arts and crafts. Organizers hope the traditional powwow atmosphere will give the Fargo-Moorhead community a glimpse of the American Indian culture.
Each year, the event is jointly organized by the Office of Multicultural Programs at NDSU, Concordia College, Minnesota State University Moorhead and Minnesota State Community and Technical College. It often attracts dancers from the region, including Canada and surrounding states like Minnesota, South Dakota and Montana.
Admission prices are ages 6-18, $2; and ages 19-55, $3. There is no charge for children age 5 and younger and persons 55 and older.
