The Red River Valley Writing Project at NDSU is set to host the North Dakota stop of “#WriteAcrossAmerica - a Virtual Writing Marathon.” The stop is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
The writing marathon blends writing, a community of writers and a journey through “place.” The Red River Valley Writing Project is one of eight local writing projects on a writers’ road trip through the National Writing Project network.
“I look forward to participants writing in virtual space with K-college teachers from around the country as we #WriteAcrossAmerica,” said Kelly Sassi, associate professor of English and education and director of the Red River Valley Writing Project.
“I'm excited that we have had 182 people register for our stop – a total of 247 have registered for #WriteAcrossAmerica,” she said. “This is something that we, as teachers, need right now – time to write, time to share writing and the feeling of connectedness to our professional home in the National Writing Project.”
Participants are asked to register; a Zoom link will be sent to registrants.
In addition to the Red River Valley Writing Project, other participating groups include the Greater Madison, Wisconsin, Writing Project; Central Arizona Writing Project; Southern Mississippi Writing project; Morehead, Kentucky, Writing Project; Hudson Valley (New York) Writing Project; Minnesota Writing Project; New Hampshire Writing Project; and Greater New Orleans Writing Project.
The marathon began June 16, and runs through mid-August.
