NDSU's fifth annual Giving Day, held Dec. 1, raised more than $1.3 million. It is the first time the total has surpassed a million dollars in the history of the event.

The online, grassroots fundraising campaign also secured a record number of unique gifts: more than 1,700. In 2019, benefactors gifted just over $939,000 and recorded about 1,300 gifts.

"The generosity of our alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students is an amazing testament to the power of this university community," NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani said. "The phenomenal breadth of donors and their commitment to the mission of NDSU as we work to improve the lives of North Dakotans is extremely exciting and gratifying. Every year the results have exceeded expectations, and this year's total sets an unimaginable record. Thank you, everyone."

Giving Day is 27 hours of philanthropy enhanced by benefactors pledging gifts for matches and challenges prior to Giving Day to inspire others to give.

"We are so grateful for the tremendous generosity of our alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends. It's incredible to see Bison Nation come together to support this great university in this time of need," said John Glover, NDSU Foundation president and CEO.

Every gift made on NDSU's Giving Day counts toward the $400 million goal of "In Our Hands: The Campaign for North Dakota State University," which publicly launched in October 2019. As of Oct. 31, 2020, the campaign has raised nearly $378 million to enhance the NDSU experience.

As a student-focused, land grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
