Michele Reid, dean of libraries, has been elected to the board of directors for the National Science Foundation’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research Science Information Group, a consortium of more than 50 research university libraries in 22 U.S. states and territories.
The program’s mission is to assist the National Science Foundation in providing strategic programs and opportunities for its participants to stimulate sustainable improvements in their research and development capacity and competitiveness, and advance their science and engineering capabilities for discovery, innovation and overall knowledge-based prosperity. The Science Information Group consortium also negotiates the collective purchase of important science and technology information services and resources, including online subscription packages from publishers such as Wiley-Blackwell and Springer.
