NDSU’s 2011 United Way “Live United” campaign is scheduled to begin Oct. 19 and run through Dec. 15. According to Char Goodyear, campus campaign coordinator and assistant to the vice president for university relations, the 2011 goal is $126,000, which represents a 3 percent increase from last year.

“Making a gift to United Way is a wonderful, compassionate way to improve the quality of life of so many of our neighbors, friends and, sometimes, members of our own families,” Goodyear said. “More than 99 cents of every dollar donated stays right here in Cass and Clay counties. The money is invested in 41 local non-profit agencies with 65 programs that serve thousands of people in our community.”

In a letter to be distributed to university personnel, President Dean L. Bresciani said NDSU has a proud tradition of caring about the well being of others. “It is in our character to promptly step forward when there is a need or a call for help,” Bresciani wrote. “Through your gift, you assist people affected by flood or fire; you offer opportunities for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts; you provide meals for the hungry people in our community; and you help local families overcome life’s challenges.”

As in past years, NDSU will conduct an online United Way campaign via ePledge. Through an improved process, an email from United Way will provide a direct link to an employee’s ePledge site; login/password changes will not be required. Goodyear said the new feature makes the pledging process easier, more convenient and more secure.

All online pledges must be completed by the end of the business day on Dec. 15. Hard copy pledge forms will be available upon request.

The goal for the total United Way of Cass-Clay 2011 community campaign is $5 million. For more information about United Way, visit www.unitedwaycassclay.org. Information about the NDSU campaign is available at www.ndsu.edu/president/unitedwaycampaign.
