Kevin Brooks, department head and professor of English, received an Alumni Achievement Award from the Department of English at Iowa State University. The awards ceremony was Oct. 20.
Brooks, who earned his doctorate in English from Iowa State University in 1997, teaches undergraduate courses in Writing in the Health Professions, Writing in the Design Professions, and Visual Culture and Language. At the graduate level, he teaches Rhetorics and Poetics of New Media.
His research interests are in the history and future of writing instruction. Brooks received his department's teaching award in 2002, the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Researcher of the Year Award in 2010 and was a Tapestry of Diverse Talents inductee in 2008.
