As CEO of Headspace Health Inc., alumna CeCe Morken is among the leaders in her profession, and she credits NDSU with laying the foundation for her life’s journey.
Morken, BS ’97, business administration, recently was named an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business Influential Leader in the area of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Headspace Health is described as the world’s most accessible and comprehensive digital mental health and wellbeing platform, offering a spectrum of affordable care. Morken is a strong advocate for mental health awareness and is in the forefront for encouraging conversations about mental health’s many different dimensions.
“I am humbled by the recognition and grateful,” Morken said. “I believe in people. I believe diversity of voices and experiences is what makes us stronger and I am energized knowing that the next generations of leaders will have diversity, inclusion, empathy and social good at the forefront of their agendas.”
Morken also is a believer in giving back. She is the sponsor of the Thought Leader in Residence program at the NDSU College of Business.
“NDSU instilled a lifelong learning journey in me. I recall business professors who encouraged me to have a different opinion, to argue the opposing point of view which taught me to remain curious and to see perspectives through the eyes of another,” Morken said. “The Thought Leadership in Residence program allows us to bring in diverse experts in business, entrepreneurship, social good and culture to bring new ideas for both students and faculty.”
Understanding other ways of looking at things is vital in today’s world, according to Scott Beaulier, NDSU’s Ronald and Kaye Olson Dean of Business.
“The Morken Thought Leader in Residence Program has brought tremendous energy and diversity to our college this past year,” Beaulier said. “Our inaugural Thought Leader in Residence, Siri Terjesen, is a leader in her field of management and corporate governance, and we were fortunate to have her interact with more than 1,000 students and stakeholders during her fall and spring visits to NDSU. CeCe’s generosity made this possible, and I’m excited to see the guests we bring in the next few years.”
Some of Morken’s other honors include being named among the Most Powerful Women in Accounting by the CPA Practice Advisor and the 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology by the National Diversity Council.
“NDSU made a big difference in my life,” Morken said when asked if she’d encourage prospective students to consider NDSU. “It’s a school where you will be challenged. Your voice will be heard and you will be surrounded by people who bring their full selves to learn together, build new futures together and make a positive impact on the world.”
