Emily Frazier, assistant dean of students, has been promoted to dean of students, according to Laura Oster-Aaland, vice provost for student affairs and enrollment management. Frazier begins her new duties Monday, Aug. 1.

“I am thrilled that Emily has accepted this position and know that she will bring her values of care and inclusion to the role of dean of students. Emily is an experienced student affairs professional with a strong commitment to NDSU and the care of its students,” Oster-Aaland said.

“My professional priorities are developing strong and collaborative relationships; supporting the diverse needs of students, faculty and staff; and providing responsive and inclusive leadership to the entire campus community,” Frazier said in her application letter.  “Though I do not find joy in the obstacles and challenges our students face, I feel energized when given the opportunity to assist and intervene while employing compassion and clarity.”

Frazier joined NDSU in 2002 as director of Sevrinson Hall. She moved to the Office of Registration and Records in 2008 and to the dean of students office later that year.

“During my 20 professional years in higher education and student affairs, I have had opportunities to develop and demonstrate my proficiencies in leadership, development, supervision, fiscal management, student conduct, student support and threat assessment,” Frazier said. “Each of my experiences have led to preparing and qualifying me for this role.”

She is a member of the President’s Council on Campus Well-being and is a past staff advisor for Kappa Delta and Delta Tau Delta.

Frazier earned her bachelor’s degree at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota; Master of Education from NDSU; and Doctor of Education at NDSU.
