Dear NDSU Family:
I am writing to collectively express the University’s condolences to the families, friends and classmates of the four North Dakota State University students who lost their lives in a terrible accident Monday. As a University dedicated to developing and creating the future of our students, our state and our nation, this is a devastating loss. The outpouring of sympathy we have experienced from not just within the NDSU family but also from across the country in many ways defines the profound nature of the tragedy.
Our student leaders have taken the lead in organizing a memorial to honor these students, and I encourage you to consider participating. A short program is planned at 9 p.m. Thursday in the Memorial Union Ballroom, and a candlelight vigil will follow at 10 p.m. on the East Patio outside the Memorial Union. Tablets will be available to sign condolences to each of the families. The NDSU Alumni Association also has established a guestbook for condolences.
As we come together to mourn for Jordan Playle, Lauren Peterson, Danielle Renninger, and Megan Sample, I hope that their families and we can find comfort in the sense of community that makes NDSU a special place. I’m sure that the four women will forever in our hearts and minds be members of our campus family.
