Karen P. Peirce, associate director for the Center for Writers, presented at the 43rd annual College English Association conference March 29-31 in Richmond, Va.
This year’s conference centered on the theme of “Borders,” with presenters from literature, languages, film, composition, pedagogy, creative writing and professional writing. Plenary speakers at the conference included noted essayist Scott Russell Sanders and former United States poet laureate Rita Dove.
In her presentation, Peirce outlined the history of the Center for Writers at NDSU and described the center’s current initiatives, including the development of campuswide writing workshops, dissertation writing groups and consulting services for faculty interested in integrating writing into their courses. In keeping with the conference theme, her paper outlined the challenges and opportunities of providing writing support services designed to cross-disciplinary borders.
NDSU is student focused and committed to its land-grant mission.
