NDSU Music names assistant professor of clarinet

Cecilia Kang was hired as an assistant professor of clarinet in the NDSU Department of Music. Most recently an instructor at Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Mich., Kang is an active international performer and clinician.

Kang earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music from the University of Southern California. Her research explores the innovative role of musicians in cultural diplomacy and in the public humanities.

Kang is a laureate of the Canadian Music Competition and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Standard Life Competition. As a chamber musician, Kang has collaborated with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Danish Orchestra and Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

She has been the featured performer for many ensembles, including the Brave New Works Contemporary Ensemble, Luzerne Chamber Players and Guelph Symphony Orchestra.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
