Identifying personal behavioral styles and learning how to work with them is the focus of the Leadership Lecture Series scheduled at NDSU on Wednesday, March 27, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Mandan room.
Marie Hvidsten, rural leadership specialist and rural leadership North Dakota program director with NDSU Extension Service, will present “Understanding Ourselves and Others” as a free interactive lecture.
Hvidsten will discuss four behavioral styles – dominance, influence, steadiness and conscientiousness – and help participants discover which one is most like them. She will offer participants information on how to work effectively with individuals who have a style different than their own.
Hvidsten has worked for NDSU Extension Service for 10 years. Prior to joining NDSU, she was the corporate learning and development manager at Digi-Key in Thief River Falls, Minn. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Bemidji State University, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of North Dakota and a doctorate in education in the field of organization development from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. Her doctoral dissertation was on women entrepreneurs in North Dakota.
The NDSU Memorial Union sponsors the Leadership Lecture Series, which features one-hour life skills presentations. The goal is to provide real-world skills that student leaders can use in their lives immediately.
