Bison Information Network, NDSU’s student television studio, celebrated its five-year anniversary on April 15.

To commemorate the achievement, on that day the network produced six talk shows in front of the NDSU Bookstore as part of the Department of Communication’s first-annual COMM Week. The network used its new Tricaster remote system to produce the shows, which was purchased with an $18,000 grant provided by the NDSU Development Foundation earlier this year.

The ‘SU TV 84 talk show included a “Student Media Sports Talk Show” with The Spectrum Sports Editor Sam Herder and KNDS Sports Director Jared Medenwald; “NDSU Athletics Talk Show” with Director of Athletics Gene Taylor and Director of Women’s Athletics Lynn Dorn; “NDSU Facilities Show” with Director of Facilities Management Mike Ellingson; “NDSU Administration Talk Show” with Director of Residence Life Rian Nostrum and Vice President for Student Affairs Prakash Mathew; BIN five-year “Anniversary Talk Show” with former Bison Information Network General Manager Andrew Young and Student Government Talk Show with Robbie Lauf, student body president-elect.

Located on 12th Ave. N., Bison Information Network specializes in a variety of production, including studio, remote and commercial. All programming airs on the network’s channel, ‘SU TV 84, as part of NDSU’s campus cable network.

Currently, the network’s largest program is “‘SU TV News,” a weekly newscast that airs on campus, as well as throughout Fargo-Moorhead on CableOne channel 14. Bison Information Network has televised several remote productions including NDSU athletic events and NDSU Fine Arts events.
