North Dakota State University’s provost, Bruce Rafert, has been selected to attend a forum at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for senior academic administrators to exchange ideas and share strategies for creating a better faculty workplace, June 17-18.
Rafert will work to address issues around NDSU’s growth, efforts to recruit more women faculty and increasing workload stress for faculty adapting to the dramatic change in terms of the breadth and scope of its scholarly, instructional and service activity.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to interact with other senior academic leaders and see how they and their states have approached similar problems,” Rafert said. “It’s a new day here in North Dakota and we need to refine and distill the best practices of peer institutions on a national scale to take full advantage of the opportunity we possess.”
NDSU is recognized as one of the nation’s top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
