Two NDSU baseball players were named to the Division I Capital One Academic All-America first team by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Tim Colwell, a junior center fielder from Shoreview, Minn., had a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in university studies. He is the only repeat selection on the first team.
John Straka, a senior right-handed starting pitcher from Chaska, Minn., had a 3.89 GPA in exercise science.
The student-athletes are the fifth and sixth Academic All-America awards for NDSU at the Division I level and the 11th and 12th in baseball program history.
To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors, student-athletes must have a 3.30 or better cumulative GPA on a four-point scale, sophomore athletic standing and be a starter or key reserve for their team.
NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
