NDSU faculty, students to be featured at Health Pitch event

NDSU personnel will be included among 15 speakers discussing healthcare solutions during the region’s first Health Pitch event, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 15, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Stage at Island Park, 333 4th St. S., Fargo.

The keynote speaker will be Scott Harrison, founder and leader of charity:water, a non-profit organization that provides sustainable water wells in remote locations of impoverished regions.

Health Pitch, hosted by the Family HealthCare Center, will feature regional leaders who have three minutes to present their ideas for healthcare and wellness. An NDSU student team under the direction of David Wells, professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering, will address student-led development of healthcare innovations, while Brody Maack, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, will speak about Family HealthCare Center Lifestyle Medicine.

Other topics are expected to include mobile healthcare apps, sustainable dentistry, community exercise engagement and new medical technologies.

One of the emcees for the event will be NDSU alumnus James Burgum, BS ’03, business administration. Burgum is a co-founder and managing partner of Arthur Ventures, Fargo.
