Laura Oster-Aaland has been named dean of enrollment management, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Oster-Aaland will replace Kate Haugen, who has announced her retirement. Oster-Aaland will be responsible for providing leadership to the Enrollment Management unit within the Division of Student Affairs, which includes Bison Connection, Career Center, Technology Services, Office of Admission, Orientation and Student Success, Registration and Records, Student Financial Services and TRiO Programs.
“I am extremely pleased that Dr. Oster-Aaland will be leading this important area and providing seamless transition and stability during this transition period in enrollment management,” said Prakash Mathew, Vice President for Student Affairs. “Her work as the director of Orientation and Student Success has been exceptional. She has demonstrated excellent insight and leadership, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with a wide variety of NDSU departments. Dr. Oster-Aaland is a strong asset for NDSU. ”
Oster-Aaland has served as the director of Orientation and Student Success, overseeing New Student Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, Family Programs, ACE tutoring, Athletic Academics and Alcohol and Other Drug prevention programs. She began her career at NDSU in 1990, serving as director of annual support programs for the Development Foundation.
Oster-Aaland earned a bachelor’s degree in child development and family science, a master’s degree in speech communication and a doctorate in education from NDSU.
