Comprehensive Curriculum
The program provides a well-rounded education with curriculum that fosters expertise in professional practice, community engagement and technological innovation.
Real-World Experience
Gain practical, hands-on experience through student teaching (clinical practice), which is the culmination of the teaching program. During the clinical practice, you’ll apply the knowledge and skills acquired in your courses to real-world classrooms under the supervision of experienced art teachers in elementary, middle and high schools.
Professional Development and Leadership
Broaden your horizons and expand your experience outside of the classroom through involvement in student organizations, including the NDSU Art Ed Club and NDSU JumpstART Education, which both foster community ties, leadership development and expand professional networks. Participation in extracurricular activities help you to connect with peers and develop leadership skills.
Licensure
Upon completion of the program you’ll be eligible for teacher licensure in art in most states. The program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and approved by the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board.
