Public Health Certificates
Public Health Certificate Program Information
Admissions requirements for the certificate programs, in addition to Graduate School requirements, include:
- Letter of intent
- Official transcripts
- 3.0 GPA for undergraduate and any graduate coursework
- English Language test scores meet the minimum for the public health program

Choose from three options
General Public Health option
The General option includes the following 12 credits and can be completed in one academic year.
- PH 704: Public Health Management and Policy (3 Credits), Fall
- PH 706: Essentials of Epidemiology (3 Credits), Spring
- PH 741: Social and Behavioral Sciences (3 Credits), Summer and Fall
- PH 745: Community Health Leadership (3 Credits), Spring
Infection Prevention option
The Infection Prevention option includes the following 12 required credits.
- PH 704: Public Health Management and Policy (3 Credits), Fall
- PH 706: Essentials of Epidemiology (3 Credits), Spring
- PH 735: Principles of Infectious Diseases I (3 Credits), Fall
- PH 736: Principles of Infectious Diseases II (3 Credits), Spring
Maternal and Child Health (MCH) option
The MCH option requires at least 9 credits and can be completed in one academic year. The curriculum includes:
One foundational MPH course:
- PH 704: Public Health Management and Policy (3 Credits), Fall
OR - PH 745: Community Health Leadership (3 Credits), Spring
Required courses:
- PH 781: Foundations of Maternal and Child Health (3 Credits), Spring
- PH 782: Introduction to Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology (2 Credits), Fall
At least one credit of an approved Maternal and Child Health elective:
- PH 761: Injury Prevention (1 Credit), Fall
OR - PH 785: Women's Health (2 Credits), Spring
