Introduction
Punica granatum also known as the pomegranate and derives from latin pōmum "apple" and grānātus "seeded." It is an ancient fruit that is typically grown in the middle east and in the 1700’s the Spanish introduced the pomegranate to the Latin America’s and eventually to California. Where it stills grows today for commercial purposes. In the early 2000's the pomegranate began to grow in popularity due to its sweet taste and its high anitoxidant characteristics.
