This is a course that I have taught for the third time in the Fall of 2015. It originated from a course that was based on the excellent book by Art Hobson, Physics, Concepts & Connections.
While teaching this class, I became more interested in the question of how we came to think about the world in the way that we think about it now, and how the perception has changed since the beginning of our historical record.
Looking at the class through this lense has opened many fascinating questions, many of which I had no ready answers to from my own Physics education. I put the slides that I used during my presentations here, but while they contain the basic content, they are unfortunately missing some ad-hoc content that we discussed using a document camera, as well as more general comments that put the material into perspective.
The lectures were complemented by online homework, provided through the very helpful open-source solution LON-CAPA.
