Cucullia asteroides Guenée 1852

Common name: listed here as ‘Golden-rod hooded-owlet.’

Hodges #: 10200.

Identification: Rfw 21.2 mm, pm line defined by dark scales both proximad and distad near tornal angle, fw with brown along inner margin and through discal cell to outer margin, median area blue-gray; male hw nearly white, female hw with well defined fuscous marginal band. See Cucullia key.

Similar species: 10190, 10194, 10197, 10198, 10201, and 10202.

Distribution: southern Canada and United States east of the Rockies.

Hosts: Larvae on Solidago– goldenrod and Aster– asters.
